The Reel
The Daiwa Seaborg 800MJ Electric Reel is the culmination of Daiwa's electric reel design and innovation. Featuring a new custom motor with approximately 1.3x more power than previous models, the Seaborg has unparalleled smoothness and speed. An original two gear ratio system allows effortless switching between mega-power and mega-speed modes at the push of a button, while a massive ATD drag system, cooled by an aluminium radiator, is capable of putting out a massive 33kg of drag pressure. Magsealed bearings minimise saltwater intrusion to improve long-term durability and smoothness. The Seaborg sets a new standard as the ultimate electric reel.
The 800MJ is designed as the ultimate standup electric reel, its smaller compact size combined with its immense power allows anglers to place enormous pressure on fish without applying the hurt on the angler. The new motor allows you to pump the rod while the motor does all the work, combined with the ATD drag system and just about anything that swims can be subdued in a fraction of time compared to conventional reels and by anglers that simply don't have the physical strength of others.
Jog Power Lever
The new Seaborg Jog Power Lever system is designed for standup fishing techniques. With the standing fight concept in mind, the Jog Lever will allow an immediate response to wind the line. When standing with the rod/reel outfit in your right hand the lever can be controlled with your left thumb. Alternatively when using your left hand to hold the outfit, pinching the lever with your right hand will allow you to control the machine easily. This easy to use function will allow you to continuously lead the fight against your target.
Dot Screen Display
Out in the field it can be tough to read anything on an LCD screen due to sun glare or sunglasses. The Seaborg's LCD screen displays large letters/numbers and uses a dotted LCD screen to make it easier for anglers to see the display. Line input procedures are selectable in Japanese or English languages. Just let the D-Vec letters on the start screen lead you to the exciting world of Dendoh reel fishing.
The Rod
The new Daiwa Saltiga Tournament Bent Butt Game Rod offers some never-before-seen components into a production light tackle game rod.
The most noticeable feature of the new Saltiga Tournament Rod is the Winthrop Epic bent butt, the lightest bent butt on the market. Winthrop has partnered with Daiwa to create a longer gimbal insert to accommodate the desires of top game anglers who helped with the development of this series.
The blank is constructed from Daiwa's HVF Nanoplus graphite making the rod lightweight and responsive for best lure performance. Fuji Stainless Steel silicon carbide (SiC) guides make sure even the lightest of top shots are provided smooth and stable line flow through the guides.
Designed to cater to the light-tackle game market throughout New Zealand and also heavier fishing action, the new Saltiga Tournament Rod is the perfect match to the Saltiga Lever Drag reels and will be a welcome addition to many offshore anglers' arsenals.
