The 9ft 2in blank sends a 100g stickbait a long way and works it with your hands high, while 18.1kg of Dura-Drag stops a kingfish before it reaches the foul. Nothing subtle about it.

The Rod
Representing the next generation of high-performance sportfishing rods, the PENN Slammer 922H Spinning Topwater Stickbait Rod is powerful, lightweight and durable. PENN's RCB2 blank pairs a rolled composite core with outer layers of longitudinal glass for a lightweight, thin, parabolic blank that flexes from grip to tip and spreads the load for extra durability, giving you the balance and recoil to work lures over reef structure or into suspended schools in both shallow and deep water. Tangle-free Fuji K frame guides with SiC inserts, a Fuji reel seat and contoured high-density EVA grips finish it off. A solid topwater stickbait rod for kingfish and other pelagic species.
The Braid
The Daiwa UVF Saltiga Durasensor X8 +Si2 Braid is masterfully crafted in Japan to produce a silky smooth, super thin line that suits a host of fishing scenarios. This 8-weave braid uses Daiwa's muscle PE fibres for higher abrasion resistance and enhanced durability - 4x tougher than normal braided lines - despite its extremely thin diameter. The Si2+ silicon coating impregnates the individual fibres rather than coating them, for a longer-lasting finish that aids hydrophobicity and line management, and the traditional multicolour markers on the 300m spool keep you in touch with your depth. Perfect for chasing hard-fighting fish.
